We are a school with 2 servers running Windows 2000, the
PDC has been reporting excesssive 8005 events the source
being mrxsmb. Nearly all the clients Windows XP cannot
log on so do but it takes ages and no policies are
implemented. Also the CPU usage is around 75 -100%, if I
remove the network cable the cpu usage drops right down.
This just started out of the blue we were doing nothing on
the server and had not implemented any changes recently.
We have tried a different network card/cable etc and it is
the same. Also the PDC is not connecting its own mapped
drives. and when we ping the pdc most times it times out.
I have run Sophos and we have the latest version and it
does not detect any viruses.
Any ideas will be appreciated
