How do I hide the My Documents Folder in Windows Explorer or have the folder
not be in the expanded position?

Control Panel|Folder Options|View, then uncheck the box for "Show My
Documents on the Desktop"

This box is already unchecked. That's the first thing I did. Still shows
in Window Explorer in an expanded position above the My Computer icon.

The because it only removes it from the desktop.

It's a special folder. It may be possible to completely neuter "My
Documents", but I would not advise trying and I have never tried to do
so. Hint: mydocs.dll unregister. At your own risk! YMMV Backups!

Curious as to why having "My Documents" (which are your documents in
fact) displayed is such a problem. For many users this feature is
extremely convenient.

As you may know, the physical "My Documents" directories can be re-
located (but they still show up in the explorer tree pane).
