Hiding portions of graphics that lay outside the margins

I have large graphic elements on a slide that straddle the edges, so that
only a part of the graphic appears in the slide (leaving the rest outside the
margins). How do I hide or delete the portions of the graphics which are not
on the slide itself?

It isn't needed, anything outside the slide will not be shown during the
presentation show. However, if you still don't want it there you can crop
the image with the cropping tool.

Okay, thanks. These are autoshapes, and when I select them the cropping tool
is grayed out. How do you crop an autoshape?

Ah, you can't crop an autoshape. You could Ctrl+X to cut it and Edit | Paste
Special and paste as an image -- like PNG. Then you can crop the PNG. But
the PNG won't have the same formatting attributes the shape does.
