That is a real, real pain. This splatch on my page consistently hides my texts & figures. It has been the single most infuriating, nonsensical "feature" of Excel for years. Can't MS just float it in the corner, or better still, give us an OFF switch/button once & for all?

Hiding Page Number in "Page Break Preview"
Hi all
When I view my worksheet in the "Page Break Preview", I can see the Page
Number shown on the worksheet as watermark. Eventhough it doesn't print, it
is quite annoyance to be in the center of the screen
Is there any way I can get rid of it ...
Thanks

Re:
Yes, instead it's possible! I've seen in past some xls page in that view mode without the page number at the center of the screen.
I'm also looking for do it, but I'm not still been able.
In excel 2003 there are only two possible view so, it is not possible to select another one. It is also possible to create custom view but I've no more info about it.

That is a pain. A real, real pain. Why don't you just emblazon the page with a huge "Microsoft" logo?
Sorry but for years of using Excel, this has been the biggest, nonsensical thorn in the side (I do have a more fitting analogy) I have come across. If you must have it, just stick it in the corner, for heaven's sake! But the best would be an OFF switch/button.
