I have created several Powerpoint 2007 presentations that frontend movies
created by Windows MovieMaker in use by guest at our local museum. PPT
Viewer2007 starts on a remote mouse button click and displays a title slide
which changes to a slide with the movie embedded. The only problem is the
mouse pointer pops up on top of the movie image. How can we hide that little
hand?

See if this helps:

Make the pointer or cursor go away (screenshow)
