increase in value.

How are you "hiding" them, and which file are you looking for the hits on,
the one in your local web or the one in the "online" web?

Chris,
I am hiding them under fonts, effects, I am checking the hidden box. The
file is my home page so I am checking the _private/index.html.cnt file. I am
also checking these on the local. Thanks for the response to my question.
Steve

Chris,
I am hiding them using the "fonts, effcts, hidden"
I am checking the file _private/index.html.cnt on my local.
Thanks for the reply,
Steve

open the "live web" and check the .cnt file the same way you did on your
local. ;-)

I have tried that already, We use an off-site web host server, when I try to
view the *.cnt file I get an IE "page can not be displayed" error. Also upon
trying to open the *.cnt file I do not have an option for open or open with.
I do have a preview with browser option, which I can open on my local with
the counter (still reading 0s.)

You open your remote web in FrontPage, not the browser, to do this.

Are you opening the file itself in notepad?

You need to check _private/index.html.cnt on the remote server in FrontPage

on your local copy of the web, delete the existing counter, replace it and
republish.

That is correct, at this point I have tried all of the most common things. Is
there any uncommon ideas that might work?
Thanks,
Steve

Chris, and Tom,
Thank You for your time and help with this.
I figured this one out. It was a path, rights issue. I could not see the
counter on the remote computer due to rights. When I went into the remote
site by opening my site live I am able to view the counter. Thanks again.
Steve

You could post a URL so someone could take a peek at it.

Or if you haven't already, open the live site by opening http://yourweb.com in FrontPage and then
open the page, delete the hit counter, save the page reinstall the hit counter and save again and
then check in your browser.

Also check and see if your home page was renamed during the publish process. If the server needs a
specific name for the home page, FrontPage will rename during the publish process. For example if
your local home page is index.htm and the server needs index.html it will be renamed.

Then when you edit the local index.htm and publish, FrontPage will "sometimes" then publish
index.htm also and you have 2 copies on the server. If this happens it for some reason seems to be
when publishing to Apache/UNIX servers.

Then when you open the web in your browser, you are looking at index.html but you are updating
index.htm

So open your live web and see what the home page file name is. Then rename your local copy to
match, let FrontPage update the hyperlinks when prompted and then republish.
