Two issues:
1. I have files showing up in my table of contents that I
do not want listed. Yet, when I put them in _private then
they cannot be accessed from my forms on my site. e.g. a
thank page for joining our e-list.

2. I have downloadable .pdf files that I don't want listed
in my table of contents and I don't want people viewing
them in their web browser. Yet, when I put them in
_private they cannot be accessed from my download page
(after they've paid for the ebook).

I have looked everywhere for the answer. Thank you in
advance,
Laura

Very simple solutions, create two folder being with a underscore as the
first character. The underscore will cause the folder to be hidden from
various FP component, which is the same as the _private, except that the
_private folder has special permissions set that are managed by the FP
extensions.

worked like a dream....thanks!!!!!!

(I wish I'd asked earlier, would have saved me a couple of
hours in this very uncomfortable chair...)

FYI
- putting them in a _hidden folder does not "protect" them if someone can find the path to that file/folder from your form or
confirmation page

Consider putting them in a password protected subweb
