Hiding drives in Explorer

Is there a way to stop a certain drive letter from showing up in Windows
Explorer? The old Tweak XP could hide drive letters, is there a registry
change that can do similar in Vista?

Thanks in advance!

You don't say what version of Vista you have. If you have the Group Policy
Editor on your machine (Start Search -> gpedit.msc), you can hide drives
under:

User Config -> Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Explorer

In the right-hand pane, the setting is named "Hide these specified drives on
My Computer"

If not, the manual registry edit described here will still work:

Thanks for the link. I have Vista Ultimate and looked at the group policy
for this. Unfortunately it won't hide the drives I want to hide, which are
USB flash devices.

I couldn't get this to work. I want to hide the Y: drive (from a USB flash
device).

Thanks for this nugget. That's why I keep reading these NG's.

Hmm... I was able to hide my USB drive just fine.

To hide drive Y, either of these should work:

REG_DWORD 01000000

REG_BINARY 00 00 00 01

You might need to log off & back on so explorer refreshes its settings.

Thanks, I got it sorted! I didn't type the codes correctly.
