Hi, i have implementet a GP to hide drive C. If the user starts Explorer
from the Quick Launch bar or The Desktop he cannot se the C drive - as
expected. However, if he starts explorer by right clicking the Start menu
the C drive is shown - and strangely enough at the bottom of the drives
list.

Why does the GP not totalle hide the C drive? And how do i totally hide it?

There are 2 polices for this, one to hide the drive and the other is to
disable browsing of the drive. You need to also implement the "Prevent
access to drives from My Computer" poliy.

To disable the ability to browse from the Folders pane by clicking the plus
sign in addition to setting the "Prevent access to drives from My Computer"
group policy, also set the "Hide these specified drives in My Computer" for
the appropriate drive. For additional information about how to lock down a

To prevent the use of the dir command by using Cmd.exe, set the folder's
NTFS permissions accordingly (a program-independent solution), or do not
allow Cmd.exe to run by using the "Disable the command prompt" group policy
under Administrative Templates, System.
