Hiding a network drive

I have to set up a mapped network drive for students to
access a folder. They have to have full access to the
folder, but I dont want them to be able to just roam
around the folders, doing as they please. I would like
to have the drive mapped, but not "visible" to the users.

If you put a $ after the share name, it will hide the share from Network Places. Keep
in mind hiding will not prevent users from browsing once they figure out how to do
it. Ultimately you need to count on share and ntfs permissions to control access.
Ntfs permissions in particular are very powerful on W2K, especially when you take
advantage of advanced/special permissions where a user/group can be listed more than
once to give very granular control over permissions. -- Steve
