Hi,
I have a problem with a sharing of a folder in a windows 2000 environment.
I would like to share a folder for all domain users and display the
subfolder only to the person who have rights to read it.
I make the follow but with no success

department (R for domain users)
sales (RW... for sales)
administrator (RW for administrator)
marketing (RW for Marketing)

In this way if I log with a sales profiles I can view all the folder, is
where a way to hidden the folder that I can't read ?

Bye

Folders shared with the "$" at the end are hidden. On the Sharing tab just
add the "$" to the end of the share name. You will have to connect using
\\servername\sharename$ since the folder is hidden and not viewable when
browsing.

You may be used to Netware, which won't show any user a folder they don't
have explicit rights to. Windows is different and always has been.
The other suggestion will hide shares from browsing, but it won't do
anything for subfolders.
Set up your folder tree logically so you don't have nesting you don't need -
and control access via NTFS permissions. It doesn't really matter who can
*see* a folder - just who can *access* it.
