How can I hide directories with a freeware program????

Open a dos prompt and rename the directory as follows

ren c:\hidethis c:\<alt>255 <--- hold down the alt key and key the
number. This will rename the folder to name that CANNOT be accessed
without renaming it back at a dos prompt.

Hey, its free :)

Exactly what I was going to suggest, but what I do is name the directory
after what I want ppl to keep out of so it frustrates them...

c:\_pr0n
c:\_mp3

etc

Additionally, you can access it from windows... (from memory) all you have
to do is run a command prompt, cd to the apppropriate directory ABOVE the
one you've 'hidden' and at the prompt c:\dir\dir>start [directory name].

I think that does it.

I used to use this in Win ME but after I got Win XP it no longer
worked :-(

I'll be damned! I use Linux at home but i do have an XP machine. I used
this technique on the work machine (win98) and never thought about trying
on XP as I haven't had the need (you can encrypt/remove access in NT/XP).
