Is there by any chance some simple thing I'm missing
here? My company is currently upgrading from NT-A97 to
XP-A02. I have user level security working well for
multiple users in shared drive. I also had
deselected 'show DB window' in Tools, Startup to keep
users from seeing Tables, Queries, Forms, etc. tabs. Why,
oh why does this not seem to work anymore? The box is
still unchecked. But (even without using the shift key)
there are two items showing on the taskbar, one is the
autoexec form and the other is the DataBase window.
Help!?!?!?!?!?!

I am not a programmer but I'm learning and I appreciate
any and all advice and direction I can find. Thanks in
advance for any help.

Hi Bonnie

In Tools>Options, on the View tab, uncheck the "Windows in taskbar" option.
This should fix it for you.

It's the %$@^&#$!^* "show windows in taskbar" feature: guaranteed to
f%^$#@-up the operation of existing menu-driven applications.

Go to groups.google.com, click Advanced Groups Search, cut & paste the
following (including the < and >) into the Message ID field, then
click View Whole Thread. This will show you one of several
conversations about this issue.

HTH,

Du-uh...thank you SO very much for that. Rather than
having to figure out how to program some sort of code I
will request that our PC support staff implement Access
with that item DESELECTED for all future deployments and
tweak all the existing ones. I use custom toolbars/menus
so they can't (easily) mess around and get to that.

THANKS AGAIN VERY VERY MUCH!!!
