how can one remove hidden network connection from XP pro sp2?

the NC got hidden as result of change of hardware (failes netowrk card,
burned mainboard replacement) The PC now seems to have gathered 6
connections with 5 being hidden with static IP. Plugging in original NIC ,
mainboard is naturally out of question.

I have this in a batch file or you can type into the command prompt:

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd\ %SystemRoot% \System32
start devmgmt.msc

Once device manager open select > View> Show hidden devices. Items that are no longer present will
appear as dimmed out icons.

thx, but unfortunately that does not allow me to remove hidden NIC that is
no longer physically in the PC

however I did found the right nic device associated with the ports and was
able to choose uninstall. del key would have cause errors

Actually, that's exactly what it allows.

So it's fixed?

If not, try rebooting into safe mode, then use the steps above to open the Device Manager, Show Hidden Devices, disable all the
NICs, and finally uninstall them. Reboot. If that still doesn't work, then there's still a couple of options available.
