An interesting one for gurus out there.

My site lists hundreds of links to hotel website links and their contact
email addresses. The site doesn't get the high search engine rankings I
would have expected and which I normally get. I'm being totally out-ranked
by less relevant, smaller hotel booking agencies which often list far fewer
hotels - but which obviously don't show direct links to the hotels, like my
site. I can only think that the search engines are treating my site as a
sort of link farm and downgrading it as a result.

I don't want to lose the hotel website links, because our site is a
non-commercial information site to promote the destination. However, I need
to find a way to display the website links in a way that the search engines
will ignore. Possibly a JavaScript solution that assembles the address and
then links to the site in a new window when the link is clicked. I've found
and used similar systems in JavaScript for email addresses, but nothing for
website addresses.

Any thought anyone?

Thanks in advance

Hi Steve,

A better solution would be to create a data base of Hotel information then
create the links on the fly as requested by the visitor.

Steve,

The issue is not so much that you have links, but is most likely based on
the amount of indexable text content that you have associated with each
listing as compared to the other web sites.
