Hidden columns that can't be unhidden

I have hidden a column on my worksheet and now cannot
unhide it. I have been using both worksheet and workbook
protection, but have turned both off before trying to
unhide the column.

After I turned off the worksheet protection, the 'unhide'
command stopped being greyed out, but I have made no
progress from there.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help,

Don

If the unhide command is no longer greyed out, what is your problem?
What are you doing to unhide it? What is happening?

The normal method is to select at least one column to the left and one
column to the right of the one you are trying to unhide, and then invoke
Format > Column > Unhide.

Thanks. Nothing happens. I select unhide and everything
stays the same. There are no error messages or anything.

I have been selecting a column either side of the hidden
column and using both the format pull-down menu and the
shortcut menu, but it's no good.

Perhaps the column isn't actually hidden, but its width is very small. Try
selecting columns to left and right and use Format > Column > Width, putting
something sensible (say 8). Does this allow the column to show up?

Any chance that it's a column on the left side and you have Window|Freeze panes
set so that you can't see that column even when it's unhidden?

if maybe, try turning off Window|Freeze Panes
