Is the registry keys needed to make these specific features, except volume (which is considered a standard key like A or B), work. They are installed by default in XP. No drivers are required for any of the features you mention (not true for all extra buttons).
Maybe the drivers are stopping it from working. Only the stock standard keyboard driver is required for the features you mention.
