In Windows xp home edition:

If the computer is in hibernation and I have scheduled a
Norton One Button maintenance task, will the task be
performed while the computer is in hibernation?

Thanks for your assistance.

And how's a computer supposed to carry out tasks when it's *off*?! All
hibernation does is save the system state to disk (in the form of the
hiberfil.sys file) and then shuts the system down *completely*. A computer
can't do much if it's not on, now can it?! ;o)

Depends. You need to enable "Wake the computer to run this task" in
the Properties. Then it should work (it does work here).
