i have enabled hibernate support, but i still can't see
it in the Turn Off Computer dialog box, it is
still "stand by"

how to i replace stand by with hibernate

Hi,

When you click on Turn Off Computer you get three
options! 1. Stand by 2. Turn Off 3. Restart.

Now at this point if you hold down the SHIFT KEY, you
will notice that the 1st option i.e. "Stand by" will
change to "Hibernate..."

Let me know if this works for you.

For your information:

If you are using Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP
Professional with Fast User Switching turned on, the Shut
Down menu will present the options to Stand By, Turn Off,
or Restart your computer. Hold down the Shift key, and
the Stand By button will change to Hibernate.

If you want help with turning fast user switching on or
off:

Click Start, click Control Panel, click User Accounts.
Click Change the way users log on or off.
Do one of the following:

To specify that a user's programs remain running when
another user logs on to the computer, select the Use Fast
User Switching check box.
To specify that programs shut down when users log off the
computer, clear the Use Fast User Switching check box.
Programs automatically shut down when users log off the
computer, and the computer will run faster for the next
user who logs on.
