I can't get my system to Hibernate.

I select Start/Turn Off/Stand-By with the SHIFT key held down, but
nothing happens.

Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Did it used to work? If so, then you probably installed a non-compliant
driver and should rollback to the previous version. Otherwise, you may find
that some of your drivers need updating.

Yes, it used to work.

I dont' know the first thing about knowing which driver would need
updating or how to find the correct driver.

Can you help me here?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately, that is the tough part. Have you, that you can recall,
installed any driver updates (especially sound or video) from the
WindowsUpdate site?

Yes, I have. Some time ago. Which makes sense, because it has been
some time ago that I began having this problem. I used to use the
Hybernate function regularly.

Would the correct drive be anywhere on my Dell Driver CD?

Hi,

Probably, but just doing a rollback should suffice. Control
Panel/system/hardware tab/Device manager/expand the branch, select the
device and click properties/driver tab/rollback.
