Hibernate Problem

Win XP Home.

When I set XP to Hibernate I cannot connect to the IP (Charter.net) server
after the machine goes into Hibernation and I have re-started.

I must shut down Win XP , disconnect power to the router & wireless server,
wait 1 minute the reconnect power to both and then re-start machine to get
connected to the internet and Outlook Express.

When I leave the Hibernate setting, "OFF" the machine has NO problems upon
re-start.

Your advice is most welcome.

Same here. I think this is due to some incompatibilities between
Hibernation mode and certain LAN hardware.

There was, I think, a hibernate patch some time ago.
But have not found it.

Perhaps you may give it a go?

Thanks,

This is because your LAN hardware interprets Hibernation to be a Shut Down.
Thus, when you return from Hibernation, your LAN hardware still sees your
machine as Shut Down.

Thanks for your replies.

Is Standby a good alternative ? Thinking of hackers of course.
