I'm not sure if this is the reason, but it seems like ever
since I installed Norton Antivirus 2004 and Norton
Personal Firewall, my hibernate & standby function don't
work. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I don't have the separate programs, but I've got Norton
Internet Security 2004 Professional on my laptop (NIS
includes both NAV and NPF). I haven't had any problems with
standby or hibernation (somewhat necessary features on a
laptop).

Try uninstalling the Norton products (using Symantec's
instructions www.symantec.com) and seeing if the
standby/hibernation features come back. If they do,
reinstall everything and let us know how things go.

P.S. Why would Norton make standby/hibernate stop working?
It doesn't really make any sense...
