Hibernate freezes after working correctly

Second time this has happened. I wiped hard disk and reconstruted with no
problems hibernate worked fine for awhile then I asked machine to hibernate
and before it started the MSN messenger popped on indicating I had not chosen
an email setup, this prevented the hibernate sequence and did something
pemanent to hibernate becuse now when I press the hibernate button or for
that matter the standby button the hibernate/standby screen comes on and
freezes. This then requires a compete power down to recover.

Can anyone help or is this a problem that requires Microsoft intervention.

I can tell you what I did but it doesn't really solve your problem
I just turned hibernation off. Problem solved. I got tired of fooling
with it every time it decided to misbehave.
