Hibernate and APC

I have the APC Battery backup hooked up to my desktop
computer, my computer keeps going into hibernate mode then
shuts off. I turn it back on then it goes so far then
goes back into hibernate mode and shuts off, Ive tried to
bypass it by going into safe mode, but it doesnt work.
Luckily I have a laptop and Im able to seach for solutions.

You failed to note whether you have connected the UPS serial port to
your machine and installed the APC software. If you have, then start
there by reviewing the installation instructions and the settings.

Otherwise, the UPS has no effect on your problem. You may have a
mismatch between power management in your BIOS and in your XP install.
ACPI is the modern setup and APM is an older configuration. Perhaps you
have APM configured in your BIOS?

Normally a resume from hibernate will load Windows. Then restore the data
from the hiberfil.sys file. Did you install the APC software and assign it
to be in charge of the hibernate functions? If yes, the APC software
manages the restoration of the system state on resume and uses its own data
file instead of hiberfil.sys. Have you checked with APC tech support yet?

Also, below is an article about how to use the System Restore when you
can't boot Windows normally or to Safe Mode. It does require that you can
at least get to the advanced start menu (press F8 during boot) to select
the Safe Mode with Command Line option.

Select a Restore point that predates the installation of the APC software.
You may want to disconnect the APC unit before doing this so that Windows
doesn't try to install new hardware when starting the system with that
older restore point.
