Hola Angel:
Feliz navidad. I know you will read this because you are on this forum,
helping others, on a daily basis.
Please go to your post on the failed .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
update. I found a solution to the problem, which you can add to your
extensive Engelpedia encyclopedia.
How is your caballo doing? I have a brand new Dell 1520 with all the powers.
I don't think I will go back to my desktop.
I always read the posts on these forums and wonder why Microsoft hasn't made
you an MVP.
We were lucky this year, Felix (Cat 5) missed us by 50 miles. Will have my
fingers crossed for the 2008 season.
Last thing: how on earth can I place the acentos with this laptop integrated
keyboad.
Your friend,
Efrain

Hi Efrain

I`d be interested in your solution as I have the same problem. Which NG was
that?

Hi Robinb

So that means the problem is universal - so to speak. I`m running XP SP2. In
fact this is not the first time I`ve had probs with NET framework. In a fit
of enthusiasm some time ago I had Visual C# 2005 installed on my system and
upgraded at the recommendation of MS (at the time) to version 2. From that
point no AU offered installed successfully. Never did understand why.

Hi Efrain

Think we must have been posting at the same time. Many thanks. I`ll give it
a try.

Stu

well i downloaded it, double clicked it and it came up with "windows
installer" saying preparing to install but nothing happened.
I did it 3 times and nada

Efrain, I don't know what is happening, I have Vista Premium, all the
updates are installed without any problem. I notice the .NET Framework 1.1
Service Pack 1
update is no listed, but I have:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB929916)
Installation date: ‎7/‎12/‎2007 2:44 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Important

Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471)
Installation date: ‎7/‎12/‎2007 3:27 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Recommended

Maybe a more knowledgeable person can explain this phenomenon.

I have a new pony '-)
Is a HP Pavilion a1710n Desktop PC

<http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...0n&product=3340227&dest_page=prodinfoCategory>

About 2 weeks ago, I add 2 GB more, so now I have 2 X 512 (original) + 2 X
1GB the PC report 2942 MB, so no problems or excuse, all the slots are
occupied

A few weeks back Bill S. suggest to a poster to buy (or add) more memory,
since the price are down, so I check with HP and they offer me each 1 GB for
$ 180.00 each, ( I don't even ask if that included Tax and Shipping), I check
the Internet for prices, and
with Newegg <http://www.newegg.com/> they have for my brand and model the
memory need it.

So I order 2 x 1 GB KINGSTON
($22.99 ea)
Subtotal $45.98
Tax $3.79
UPS Ground $6.69
Order Total $56.46

So in less than 30 hrs, I recive and install the RAM and save more than
200.00 bucks.
And so far no problems

Note.- the original 2 X 512 with the PC are made in Korea.

Only for kicks, check with Dell prices, and check Newegg or any other
company for the prices, you are going to be surprised how the brand names
company's charge .

No webcam or DSL, but those come later if I need them.

good luck, and with my luck, more like it the give it to Jack Ass ;-)
before my ticket come up ;-)

I don't know if this work with Vista, but you can try and let us know.

How To Use the United States-International Keyboard Layout in Windows XP
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306560>

Maybe worth a shot? Good luck,

I used to have a text file that contained all of those special characters,
and when I needed one I'd cut and paste it.

I followed the directions below and really liked the ease of toggling
between the English (U.S.) and U.S. International keyboards. On XP, you
simply click an icon to select your keyboard configuration, and pick U.S.
International when you're ready for special characters. Examples: type
apostrophe, then a for á and Right-ALT+/ for ¿. Very easy and quick. When
done, just reselect English (U.S.) to get your old keyboard settings back.

In XP, the Character Chart is kinda hidden. Start> All Programs>
Accessories> System Tools> Character Map. I right clicked on it and sent it
to "shortcut on my desktop", then dragged it to my Quick Launch for
convenience a long time ago. Since the Char Map does give you the alt codes,
it's easy to memorize the ones you use the most frequently. For example, Alt
and 0169 make a copyright symbol: ©

If I had to constantly switch between languages I think I would buy specific
language keyboards and just swap them as needed. I know I can type anything
on this standard American keyboard, but remembering all the tricks, codes and
key combinations for the different characters in different languages is more
clutter than my brain can absorb.

Well Efrain, I stop here to give you time to prepare for the tradition
Navideñas, aguinaldos, décimas, and if you consider the ''octavas and
octavitas''

I wish to be able to go to the Isla, and enjoy an old fashioned lechón asao.

Cantando:
A la Zarandela

Abreme la puerta, ábreme la puerta
que estoy en la calle
y dirá la gente, que ésto es un desaire.
y dirá la gente, que ésto es un desaire.

~ Coro ~
A la zarandela, a la zarandela
a la zarandela, de mi corazón.
a la zarandela chiquita, a la zarandela
a la zarandela, de mi corazón.

Allá dentro veo, allá dentro veo
un bulto tapao
no sé si será, un lechón asao,
no sé si será , un lechón asao.

~ Coro ~

A darte un asalto, a darte un asalto
venimos cantando
todos bien alegres, con mucho entusiasmo
todos bien alegres, con mucho entusiasmo.

And check the 198th Fighter Squadron (198 FS) "Bucaneros" was composed from
P-47s to F-16s and was redesignated as the 198th Airlift Squadron (198 AS)
when it's fighters were replaced with the C-130 Hercules. The 140th Air
Defense Squadron (140 ADS) stationed in Punta Salinas and Mayaguez
International Airport (here I was based) to provide airspace traffic support.

But we don't know what this life have reserved for tomorrow,

Do be surprised if one day I knock in your door, and I take you for una
buena parranda ;-)

Take care

Hola Engel:
No problem with the quake. Heavy shaking felt only on high rises.

I do read this forum on a daily basis. For me is the best place to get
inmediate advice to issues. Seldom are users redirected to others without
help. The spice provided by Jack Ass, which makes me laugh with his
"ocurrencias". Also the forum is not run as a one person private business.

Error problem with the installation of WLOC 2.0 made me switch to Norton
Internet Security 2008. I am happy with the program in my 2 PCs, and will go
with NIS on the remaining 10 family computers when the WLOC subscription
expires next April.

I found the solution for the acentos. Needed to key in FN+Alt+130, 160, 161,
162, 163, 164, and 168.

Thanks for the card. I was going to send you one with Paul Potts singing
Nessum Dorma, but my settinga didn't let me and erased all my previous
writting. At the end of Paul song they say "talking to you is a complete
breath of fresh air".

Let me know if you plan on visiting the Island, for we have a place for you
to stay.

Your friend,

Efrain
