Windows vista does windows acount manager does not like the script in
the lexmark drivers because it considers it a legacy device because of
the versions date in the driver.

So there is nothing wrong with the printer or the computer is just
Vista that does not like the code in the drivers for the printer.

Now this drivers do work with other operating systems such as Win XP
and Win9x
Just make sure they are for those operating system.

There is a Service Pack 1 that windows Vista is coming our with But a
word of caution wait at least 6 to 8 months before even putting it on
your system.

But according to Microsoft that SP should fix compatibility issues
with legacy or older devices that worked with XP

And your source for this information is.........?

In general, there are no more problems with Lexmark printers using the Vista
operating system than any other printers. Of course, if you asked in the
correct NG, we could probably assist you better. That, of course, would be
Print_Fax_Scan.

I also had problems with Lexmark printer driver--I went online to Lexmark and
downloaded driver for Vista --no more problems

I also went to the Lexmark site and downloaded the recommended driver, but to
no avail.
y model is Lexmark 1270. What model you manage to deal with?

john--I have an X3550 lexmark--have you contacted Lexmark support?from my
experiences with HP on vista program--no luck there--sorry

An update as of today with hte Lexmark 1270 printer I could not get working.
I tried again and contacted Lexmark support. They have a download availabe
cjr1200EN.exe for 32 bit systems using Vista (that's me) and I think a
download cjs122EN.exe for 64 bit systems. I did everything they suggested and
after quite a long update period the printer is working!.
I did get a couple of worrying messages towards the end "Print Spooler has
been stopped" and "AIOC.exe something or other". Being the eternal optimist I
ignored these and was succesful.
I should add that I had previously used the Oct version of cjr1200EN but
that had not worked. Presumably Lexmark had updated it. Hope this helps. If I
can do it so can you, believe me!
