Hi guys
Can anyone help me please. When I try to copy a home made
video MPEG to DVD using NERO 5, it wont accept it and
says it can only accept unknown file formats (bups, etc,
which do not seem to be compatible with WMP, RealOne,
etc). Am I doing something wrong or does anyone out there
know a solution or another DVD burn facility that will
allow me to easily burn MPEG to DVD?? (I can copy to CD
using the XP facility, but there's not enough disc space
on CD.)
It's driving me bananas and anyone who can help me will
be a superhero!

I'm not a user of nero, but isn't it version 6 that has dvd facilities? I
may be wrong, but check it out at ahead's site and see, it may just need a
simple upgrade.
Graham - but not the same Graham :)

Yes it is version 6. But you also have to use DVD compliant mpg, not just
any mpg will do without re encoding.

Your video file is likely in MPEG-1 format. To burn a DVD it needs to be in
MPEG-2 format, which will require some re-encoding. HOWEVER: you can use
Nero to burn that mpeg-1 file to a CD-R (not DVD-R) right now- as a VCD
(video CD.) Most newer DVD players will play VCDs- check your manual to see
if yours does.

Ian.
