HHD not seen by OS

i am sort of new here, i thist morning i backed up a lot
of data to my 75 Gig drive i then did a clean install on
my 40 Gig. but now that i have my OS up all driver
installed, & some thing like 42 MS updates. i went to
retrave my data and the drive is not visable in explorer.
i went in to computer managment > disk mangmenent i see
it there as Sctive & healthy when i right click on the
VOLUME my only option is "Convert to Dynamic Disk",

have i done some thing wroung?
how can i mout the drive with out loseing data?
or is there a tool i can use to not lose it?

its there in bios & i have just got done moveing it betwen
all 4 of my IDE slots with jumpers to match each postion.
i am un shure how to cheek if its hidden, i will reboot
now and look at it with Fdisk

used Fdisk, nothing humped out at me as wroung

used XP CD acted as i was installing, installer sees the
HHD

When you wiped out the system on the 40Gb you also removed
information about the existance of the 75Gb.
Normally XP would have detected the 2nd disk and assigned a drive
letter.
To get the disk back, on the Action menu select 'Scan Disks' to find
new disks. It should pick up the new disk.
You may need to 'Initialise' the disk (this is NOT the same as
formatting) before being able to allocate a drive letter.
