is anyone out there having the same headache as im havin im trying to find the best company with a fair price for hgv training and they certainly know how to make your day with one company saying thats a grand thankyou very much and the other saying thats £999 pounds thankyou very much well im half way through my training and not expecting much of a response to this but does anybody know of a decent and fair training school i should contact as regards to getting the best deal for my money the clock is ticking and looking to get my class 2 very soon

Sorry can't help on the training bit but my experience tells me that you should go straight for the class 1 as opposed for going for the class 2 license as you will have to pay all over again and train again for your class 1, which you will invariably need at some point as there aren't that many 18.5 ton freighters on the road nowadays as its all juggernauts and 40ft trailers..

I know this as my dad has been a Heavy goods vehicle driver all his life..

Good luck with the training though and yes it is expensive but you can earn roughly £600 to £800 a week with a class 1 so in the scheme of things seems quite cheap on the whole..:thumb:

Have you got you already got your provisional C1/C HGV Licence?
When did you get your car driving licence?
As the law changed in the 90's and this meant after this date that you could only drive upto 3.5 tons.
After that you have to do 3.5 to 7.5 tons (C1) Before going for (HGV2/LGV "C" .

But more importantly what’s you driving experience to date?
As for costing £1k that’s about right for a 10 day course + test.

Nowadays Crazylegs i thnk you need to do HGV 2 before doing HGV1 if your licence is before mid 1990's.

Aye Feckit you could be right on that...Depends on when he passed his test..

I think it was if you passed your car test before 1992 but not exactly sure..

I did my HGV2 in mid 90's and it was after that date they changed it all.

Some companies offer the package of HGV2 + Test in a week or 2 of training.
But it really depends on your driving experience to date.
The company i used were really on the ball and enabled me to pass 1st time on HGV2.

boltonian2006, why are you in such a hurry to get HGV2?
What area of the UK are you looking to train in?

already have c1 and class 2 provisional on my licence also passed theory and medical still these companys want to hit me were it hurts which is in my pocket but am glad to see there are a few of you out there that are willing to make some helpfull suggestions and i would like to thank you for that so thanks to all those of you that have replied and all information is taken on board

£1k for HGV2 is a good deal.
What companies are you looking to train with?
Most offer 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 training.

Even when you have HGV2 you will then need ADR/HIAB or HazCHEM to carry certain products with.
Hence more money to train!!!

in a rush to get my class two as my theory certificate is due to run out in in july its been a busy old year and dont fancy going through the theory again as for my driving experiance i drive coaches now so should not find drivin a class 2 so difficult should i ?

If your driving Coach's already then it should all be a doddle in passing LGV "C" (HGV2) for you.
I did my driver training in London so cant help you much for your area.
Do a google search and pick out 3 or 4 to visit the companies and see which you feel will offer you the best training.
The cheapest is not always the best!

Good luck & post back with more news & of course when you pass.:thumb:
