Located in the Windows folder, the subfolder named $hf_mig$ is almost 1GB in size and full of many subfolders with names all starting with "KB" followed by a number usually 6 digits in length. Dates on the folders and files vary from recent back to 2004. Do I need all this? Can some of these files be deleted?

Do *not* delete the $hf_mig$ folder.
Because the “$hf_mig$” folder is crucial to ensuring your computer has the most recent updates, you SHOULD NOT delete the “$hf_mig$” folder.
