I wrote below about the trouble with importing dvd. I used you tips and used
virtual dub. Now The original file imports fine, but when I cut it. the new
frames are blank.
Any help?

OK... explain what you mean by the frames being blank. Do they show up in
the DV-AVI file saved by VirtualDub, if you browse the file in VirtualDub?
Do the files play in WMP?... preview in the collection?

where do they show up as being blank? does that include the first frame of
the files or clips?

..... and did you use VirtualDub MPEG, not the regular version of Virtual Dub
which can't handle the MPEG2 files?

The video played just fine in movie maker. I was able to watch it and cut it,
but when I moved the files into the storyboard, they were all balck and no
video was there.

maybe Iam doing that wrong. It says (uncompressed RGB/YCbCr). Nothing in
there says Panasonic, but I do have it downloaded and unzipped.
But again it does work in Movie maker but does not work in the storyboard.

after unzipping you need to install the Panasonic DV codec by right clicking
on the inf file and telling it to install... then it'll show in the video
compression picklist.

thanks for the help
