Is there a way to print both sides of the page such as
in "book" with "Microsoft ME". There is no way in
preferences or page layout.

Sorry. Not possible with the 712c drivers HP provided for XP. A third party
program such as FinePrint is the only solution I have found for my 712c
(www.fineprint.com)
