I was playing a game and computer froze and forced power disconnect. Booted and situation repeated after a few minutes
Have XP home OEM/2200mhz Atherton/ K7S5A MB/1gig ddr/128meg video car
1. Will not boot up on own... screen goes blan
2. No option will work at safe mode menu except restart
3. Changed video card still no change (video card was recognized and supported
4. No system restore optio
5. Tried boot from xp cd ...only starts exec. xp then checks hardware and loads drivers then stops after displaying msg. loading windows
6. Put in new disc drive tried install but same result: nothing. Appeared to start but stopped. Looks like something loaded a bit on hard drive but no access.
7. Tried the 6 floppy routine but same results no hel
8. I do get the load up screens from the bios and have made adjustments accordingly
9. Memory test o
Any thoughts? I read another thread that sounded just like this and they had determined it was the motherboard or processor and the problem was resolved. My processor is not overclocked and runs about 92 degrees with a system temp of 86 degrees

Thanks in advanc

Will it boot to a floppy drive A:\ ?
If it won't boot to a floppy, then I would suggest checking the BIOS setup.
If it does boot to a floppy, check the bios settings for the Auto Detect
Hard Drive.
If ok then try rebooting to XP CD and do a repair install.

Unfortunately, the A drive appears to work but and spins like its loading but still a blank with no positive result. The best it does is a few lines on the screen then it stops
I have altered the bio numerous times with every alternative I can think of but the same result. Thanks anyway

Did you try loading the default values in the BIOS?
sometimes that works?

I experianced that behavior before. Turned out to be a bad RAM chip.

Try another chip, or if you have two chips, take one out then try booting,
and then switch chips to see if one or the other will work.

I do have two sticks of memory to total 1gig and will try them individualy. On the down side the memory passes the self testing on bootup. To make it worse I don't think that I can really here any action from either hard drive. I am thinking that maybe it is the controller on the motherboard.
