I don't follow the launches mate but it's certainly interesting to see the results of all the hard work

The hard work is the launch, conventional fuelled chemical launches peak at about 42,000 mph and are fraught with dangers, until we find alternative " fuel" , we will be crossing fingers .

We are now entering comparitavely
safe mode :)

Well I dunno what that last post was all about but Herschel telescope is indeed a good thing :thumb:

I'm really looking forward to the results of this telescope - it looks like it could gather some genuinely interesting data. :thumb:

Sorry flops what i meant was that the fastest speed that can be reached using traditional chemical fuel is 42,000 mph and as you know its risky as its a highly flammable mixture. But its the only way to get rockets into space by generating enough thrust. Rockets of the future will use non chemical forms of propulsion but dont ask me what kind :) .

I love the photos of space. Makes me feel rather tiny to think that there is all that unexplored stuff out there.
