All,
Here is some info to help you (at least in my case it has worked so
far--WIN98 & IE6).
I have read many posts on IE delays, freezing up, not connecting to internet
and other similar problems. I tried all kinds of AV programs, spyware
removers, ad-aware etc all with the very latest updates. Nothing worked. I
then read some PC forums on the web and lots of people were talking about
their systems lagging, freezing etc. I saw a post for a free online virus
scanner from Trendmicro called HouseCall. Here is the link.
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
This scanner found instances of Java Bytever A, B, C etc in the Java
subdirectories and deleted them. My system now is working fine( for now,
until the next problem appears). Give the Housecall scanner a try and post
back on this thread and let's see if it helped. I would never have thought
that a Java applet would cause these problems. By the way, you could also go
into control panel and use the Java applet (if you have one) to delete the
Java cache. On the general tab, click on Delete files.... and also click on
settings.... Post back on this thread here so we can all benefit. Good
luck.
