I am running an SBS 2000 box with ISA server, we got a backdoor Trojan, and
realized that it would be a good idea to use an external gateway instead of
having my server directly on the net. I was thinking of using
Mandrake/Linux for my firewall, & gateway. I realize this is a Microsoft
forum, but I am sure there are plenty of you out there running a
heterogeneous network. If anyone has had this or a similar situation,
Please let me know how it worked out, before I get myself too head deep in.

Thank you

Linux does not generally work well as a firewall/gateway if you do not plan
on patching it and monitoring it on a very regular basis... a decent
hardware-based router will do the trick alot more effectively if security is
a major concern for you. Failing that, a BSD variant can also run on a PC
platform and will generally need less patching than Linux.
