Wondering if one of you kind guys can help me:

I've spent the last few days trying to install a new Hercules Phrophet
7500 128Mb Dual in my system, as follows:

Win XP Pro
Gigabyte GA-6BX7
Celeron 1.1Ghz
512 Mb RAM

Every time that I've attempted an install I get the default 400x600
resolution with an error message about changing it to something more
appropriate etc etc.
If I use the driver disc that came with it I get "The ATI control
panel failed to start because there are no drivers installed" (or
something pretty similar to that)
Checking in the device manager I see that there is indeed a problem
with the card with the error
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you
want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other
devices on this system. (Code 12)"

I have even taken every card out of the machine & disabled as much
other stuff as I can but I still get the same error.

What next? Anyone got any ideas?
TIA

you have OB video that has been left enabled? safe mode check device manager for ghost hardware drivers.\

Thanx for the tip, I checked for ghost drivers etc - nothing in there
that shouldn't be.

OB video ????? not sure what you mean.

On Board (motherboard) video chip (not a seprate card)

No - no on-board anything on this mobo

I'm going to try it with a virgin install of XP at the weekend and see
how that goes.
