Helps please, Zeno Search Assistant running in memory

Hiya All,

I was wondering whether you can help me please. I have tried to remove the
Zeno Search Assistant running in memory...

I have tried: Spysweeper, Ad-Ware, Trend Micro, Counterspy...The problem is
that is just starts from bootup and then as u use the internet. it just gives
u annoying pop-ups, which Spysweeper does not block out, so your constantly
closing them down. Also gettin pop-up about fixing the registry and WinFix,
god, thats frustrating....

Any ideas to remove this would be so much appreciated, lm running Windows
2000, its a company laptop, Dell D600. Any such help, would be so much
appreciated.

I tried to run spyswepper in Safe Mode, but it wouldn't allow me to do so,
as it kept coming-up with a pop-up saying u have to make changes using
Control panel. I dont quite recall the message, but thats wat l was getting.

I am running Spyware Doctor and unfortunately, Zeno is still running in the
background, I have completed a full scan, l purchased it as well, l was
hoping to remove the Zeno Assistant, but keeps popping-up

anything that lm doing wrong in order to remove it?

I have found this info:

Follow these removal steps to remove this adware from your computer:

1. Reboot your computer to Safe mode ( press F8 when Windows start ).

2. Click Start > Run, type 'regedit', and click Ok to open the Registry
editor.

3. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

In the right pane find and delete the entry 'SysStart'. Record the path and
filename that 'SysStart' points to.

4.Navigate to and delete the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Zeno

5. Delete the file you recorded in step 3.

6. Reboot the computer.

Remove this spyware using Spyware Doctor.




Try also any other antispyware application in the Safe Mode (Ad-Aware,
Spybot Search & Destroy, Evido.. ).

Its states:
Type: REG_SZ
Data (value not set)

There is no SysStart

It has sub-directories called: OptionalComponents

In Step 4:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Zeno

In the Uninstall directory, there is no directory called Zeno.

Even though there are no references to Zeno, lm still gettin pop-up from Zeno

Maybe another try :-)
Download the HiJackThis application from this site
http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html , scan the system using it, and
generate the report - copy and place this report either on the
http://www.hijackthis.de and click Analyze button, or here, or on this
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ - this should help to find where else zeno
resides.
