i have just got a hp pavilion and i have tried to install
the dvd but it says i must copy mscdex.exe to the boot
drive how do i do that and where do i get that file
can someone help me

Those are instructions for installing on a DOS or Win95 system. They
are the wrong instructions for XP. You should find that if this is an
IDE drive and you plug it in, then it will be automatically discovered
and be working
