Hello all! First off, I am a new user here and so far I'm liking the site.

I come in peace. ^_^

My 2 questions are, 1. Is there any good websites where I can learn about Microsoft Sharepoint? My work just started using it and we're all learning about it, and I just got hired as an IT Support Specialist here. And with all this downtime I thought I can learn about it.

Also, My job is looking for a nice ticketing system. Anyone know any good ones?

Do you have access to hardware? I am in a similar situation and am finding that the best way to know it is to install it. Short of that, Google. That is what I had to do when I built a couple of pages for our current installation of Sharepoint, but they are remedial at best. I have a machine here for just that.
*note: If you run AD, Sharepoint will use it.

have you heard of spiceworks? I use it here (limited, but soon to increase) and it's not so bad for tracking anything and everything you need on your network. Configure access and it will scan the PC and tell you stats on it. Has help desk ticket management. You can track vendors/services as well.

Sharepoint will also allow you to build your ticketing system. Just be sure to take regular backups. This place did not do that before I got here and it crashed, taking all of the stuff with it.
