Clive

I have 3 PCs on a home network. All 3 run win xp ( sad i know but it
works most of the time )

recently i had to format the main Pc that connects to the Net and put a
new version of XP on it.

Since this has been done i am unable to locate this computer on the network
at all

i have tried all option on the network setup wizard to no avail

can somebody enlighten me to what might be wrong and what i can do to
resolve this please

TIA

Hi, I don't know if you've already corrected this problem using the previous
advice, but I've had a very similar problem twice before (with XP and 2000).
It's been a while, but I believe that after the reinstall certain networking
services were missing, specifically 'Simple TCP/IP Services'. These are very
easy to install, you go to 'Control Pannel' then 'Add Remove Programs' then
'add remove windows components'. One of the options in there is 'networking
services'. If you highlight this one then click details, one of the options
is 'simple TCP/IP services'. In both my cases this wasn't installed, and
once I did install them (which requires the XP CD) the computer re-appeared
on the network.

Like I say, this worked for me so it might work for you. Hope it helps,

Sam
