Evan

My formulas don't seem to be automatically filling in.
For example if I type =SUM(A1:D1) in cell F1, it won't
fill in F1 with the total for A1:D1. Any suggestions?

Evan

the things in a1:d1 aren't numbers - maybe they're formatted as text even if
they look like numbers

to "fix" this - type the number 1 somewhere else and after pressing enter
make sure that it is right-aligned - if its not (don't change it - it means
that cell is also formatted as text, so try typing 1 into a new workbook)
click on the 1 that you typed and copy it
then select cells a1 to d1 and from the menu choose
edit / paste special,

click the radio button next to multiply
then click OK

should work now ... let us know if it doesn't

Cheers

Hello Evan,

this may be down to your options in Excel, have you tried
looking to see if you have the "show formulas" selected,
it may be that it is calculating it but will not appear on
screen as calculation (some people use this if they are
trying to manipulate alot of data and do not wish to be
confused with the auto update in excel formulas)

good luck Evan,
