It looks like a hardware problem. To diagnose a hardware fault is difficult
(reads tedious) and in your case of a laptop, the difficulty is compounded
because there aren't that many things you can do without opening the case.
You might just be lucky to be able to bypass the block by instructing the
machine to roll back to a past date when the OS was working OK, using the
restore command in the Recovery Console. You can also try here repairing a
damaged files due to defective HD sectors, if that is what it is, by issuing
the CHKDSK command.
On the hardware side, it is even more restrictive. You can check if there
is any overheating through the CMOS setup page, HDD integrity using the
manufacturer's diagnostics on floppies, and if you are comfortable in
opening the case, swapping a healthy (or new) RAM stick with the incumbent,
or running MemTest86 overnight to thoroughly test the memory chips. That is
about all one can do.
Failing all that, then I have to say it is time to call it a day and let the
professional to repair your laptop.
Maybe you'll get better answers, if you post this query to the hardware
newsgroup.
