Can anyone tell me how to do this:

I want to type A1 in one cell and then I want the following cells to say A2,
A3 and so on. How do I do this automatically without having to type in each
square manually.

Thanks for any help

Nath

Type A1 in a cell.

Right-click and drag down.

Release button and select "fill series"

If you right-click and drag down, as Gord wrote, a dialog will pop up
when you release the mouse button. One of the choices will be Fill
Series...

How do I select fill series.

Just a note: Tools>Options>Edit "allow cell drag and drop" must be
enabled(checked on)

I tried this and it worked as well ... I entered "A1" in cell A1 an
simply copied down.

Automatically, cell A2 had "A2" in it, cell A3 had "A3" in it and so o
down the line. This way, you do not have to look for your "Fill Series
option when you right click and drag down
