As a new user I am not too familiar with everything. When
I open some of my e-mails they have a paper clip symbol
in the corner and I cannot open the e-mail. Please tell
me how to do this. Thanx

I take it you're running Outlook 2002. If that's the case,
it is a built-in, protective "feature" that a lot of
people seem to find...ummm... less than attractive.
Apparently is only filters out executable files. Zip and
other programs that don't threaten the OS seem to get
through ok.

There are some hacks and registry tweaks you can peform.
You can find them with a Google search. Otherwise you're
out of luck.

Now, if you're not running Outlook or are running
GroupWise, Notes, etc. perhaps someone else has some
thoughts.

Best of luck!

That paper clip is for an attachment, be careful. That
is how viruses get into your system. Make sure you have
a virus protection up and running. I strongly recommend
not opening any attachment unless you are sure where it's
coming from. To open move the pointer over it and a
small window will appear and give you options. Good luck!

hi, If you are using outlook express ?, and the paperclip
is grey! go to tools/options/security,and untick the box
labelled "do not allow attachments to be saved that could
be a virus " click apply, ok, and you should be able to
open your attachments
