i am trying to figure out how to fix this problem ''
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a
long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop3.mail.mindspring.com',
Server: 'pop.mindspring.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
everytime i try use my outlook express '' i get this error ''
i have done everything my isp told to do on the phone '' and what the error
codes say to fix it '' and nothing has helped '' could some one please
help me '' i am sooooooooo frustrated this has been going on for a month
'' i just joined this group '' any help would be greatly
appreciated''

Try changing incoming mail to pop.mindspring.com & outgoing to
smtp.mindspring.com to see if that helps
Also make sure your username & password are entered correctly. The username
for them is typically your full email address unless they have switched to a
user ID that they generate & give you.

Hi Debbie.

First question is this a relatively new account and has it ever worked
properly?

Next thing is to go tools>accounts>mail and highlight the account name (you
probably have only one but if not you need to do this for each one) and hit
the properties button.

On the tab that says "Servers" check what is there.

I don't know for sure but it seems that your incoming server might be
pop.mindspring.com and your outgoing server might be mail.mindspring.com. Is
this what your ISP told you to put there? If any of these have changed what
have they changed to?

Do you use antivirus such as Norton? If you do it may be interfering with
the connection. Also some spam (Junk mail) blocking programs will interfere.
If you can, try it with these things turned off. If you turn off Antivirus
be very careful just to test it and don't open anything suspicious. Turn the
Antivirus back on as soon as you can.

If you can discover whether something like that is causing the problem we
can get more specific.

Have you tried deleting the account fro OE and then reentering all your info
to create the account again?
Can you relate any software possibly added around the time this occurred?
Turn email scanning off in Norton - it is a waste of time and energy and
creates more problems that it could possibly fix.

Hi debbie :-)

Do you have any 3rd Party programs installed, such as eMail2Pop, Mailwasher,
etc.?

If you have Norton installed, if so, it is possible that a recent update may
have caused this problem:

Here are a few other suggestions you might try:

Clear Internet Cache
1. Click Tools > Internet Options
2. In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click "Delete Cookies"
3. Click "Delete Files" click "Delete all offline content" click OK
4. In the "History" section, click "Clear History".
5. Click "OK".

and...

Register the following system files
Click Start > Run
Type "regsvr32 softpub.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press OK
Repeat the above steps for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
You should see as message that says the install was successful after each
entry
