I have a Windows Xp professional OS, on a 1100 mhz AMD system with 512 mb SDram
and a 64 mb NVidia video card. I downloaded most of all the security updates
from the Windows site, recently I tried to download some new video drivers for
the Nvidia video card. But the new drivers seem to totally wreck my system, as
there was no video on startup. Using "sytem restore" I was able to get the
computer to boot up again, but ,11-4-03, it was really acting up this morning.
I couldn't boot up or the computer would freeze up in the process of booting-up.
When I re-started the computer, Windows "scandisk" could come on, but after that
program was over , windows wouldn't bootup. I used sytem restore, re-installed
various files including basic stuff for the Motherboard. In explicably..the
puter started booting up again.
The error logs read like this
"The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period. "
"DCOM got error "%1084" attempting to start the service EventSystem with
arguments "" in order to run the server: {1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B
726-00C04FB926AF}"
"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: Fips IPSec
MRxSmb NetBIOS NetBT Processor RasAcd Rd bss Tcpip "
Perhaps it has something to do with the video drivers as I'm going to attempt
re-install the new Nvidia drivers.
Might anybody have some insight has to how I could remedy this probelm?
also how can I SAVE all this files ( security updates, virus definition updates,
driver updates) i'm downloading from the Windows help website, I want to save
them to disk (CD) put don't know where to access those files.
or if its possible to save them to disk , so in case I re-format this drive I
don't have to go to the windows site to re-install about 100 mb in updates.
