As the others have pointed out, your post does not contain enough
information so that a specific response can be made. If somehow the drive
was formatted and the system reinstalled, then you need to quit using the PC
immediately to avoid overwriting the missing data. Even though a format may
have occurred, that will not stop you from retrieving some or all of the
missing data using special retrieval software such as Data Recovery Wizard
Pro. Once the data has been overwritten, it is virtually impossible to
retrieve unless you have BIG bucks to pay a company that specializes in
retrieval. You would need to slave up your drive in a different PC, install
the retrieval software to that PC and then run it so it searches your drive.
You would retrieve the data to the host PC's drive and once the operation is
complete, you would then transfer the data to your hard drive.
