For the last 5-6 months now when I open up Mail my computer resources go to
max and my PC virtually stops working for about 3-4 mins and I have to close
mail to get it to work again. I can reopen mail and its great but for some
reason my resource meter say Ram used just on 1800mb but once I close mail
it goes back down to normal. As I said this has been the last 5-6 months
since virgin media took over blueyonder NGS, it was working great before
then.

I have tried taking all newsgroups of but still does it and I only have a
few email stored in my Mail account. I am running a 5600xp cpu with 2 gig
of ram if this help with Vista home premium.

any help

I don't like live mail and would prefer to know why such a new computer is
causing this problem before I look at other programs

Have you tried the newer Windows Live Mail, or are you confusing
it with the older web-based version?

In my opinion, Windows Mail was released before it was fully debugged.
Microsoft has tacitly concurred with that sentiment by designating
Windows Live Mail as the "replacement" for Windows Mail.

is that the link you sent me for the newer version and can I retrieve my old
emails through it, I also thought you had to have a yahoo account for live
as I don't want one of them

Yes, that is the link for downloading Windows Live Mail.

It will not only work with all accounts you have set up in
Windows Mail, but it will automatically import all those
accounts, settings, and emails.

You do not need either a Yahoo or Hotmail account.
If you do have a Hotmail (or Live.com) account, WLM can
optionally synchronize your contacts with the webmail
contacts, thereby ensuring you always have an up-to-date
backup copy of your contacts. This has already saved my
bacon once when my laptop was stolen earlier this year.
