Everytime I log on the XP window, there is a message pop up:
Error loading C:\WINDOWS\rqrsss.dll
The specified module could not be found
How to fix this problem?
Nothing shows up when searching for rqrsss.dll with google. However if I
shorten that to rqrss.dll I get two results that stand out:
1)The file is a legit file that is part of ATI Hot Keys. Reinstalling the
ATI drivers (from the ATI site or your OEM's site) should help to reinstate
that file.
2) This file shows up on systems infected with malware, several different
ones that include the very undesirable virtumondo. Review logs from your
antivirus and anti-malware applications to see if they recently detected a
problem. They will also say which malware was detected and whether or not
any files were quarantined or deleted.
Look up the malware to see if there are manual cleanup steps needed. It's
not unusual to have a dangerous file isolated and to be left with a
"missing" message at startup. Manual steps usually detail how to remove the
startup command that causes the "missing" message.
Look for posts by Malke in this newsgroup. She has a very good outline at
her website for checking a system for malware and getting it clean. If you
can't find any posts from her with the direct URL for the "malware page,"
here's the URL for the home page of her site:
